Does anyone out there have any photos of Barrington Hall in its glory days? I want to put together a collection to be put up on a website or maybe even published in a book. You will get full credit for your pictures. I just want to see them, mostly. Thanks.

Re: Barrington Hall
Sat, November 10, 2007 - 3:53 PMi would have brought a camera but i think i would have spent too much time dodging flying beer bottles to take any pictures. i'd give a lot to see any that people might have, though.

Mon, November 12, 2007 - 12:43 PMJames Dash came to my art center for a concert - I asked him if he had a copy of that East Bay Express article about Barrington. He said he would bring me one.... but he hasn't yet!
I'm sure he has LOTS of photos! He was house manager for yonks. -

Re: Barrington Hall
Wed, November 14, 2007 - 4:12 AMWe lived right across the street from Barrington so I asked my mom if she has any photos of us "shopping" in the free box. Unfortunately she doesn't. I remember the interior as very dark, with people either in constant motion or sprawled across furniture. It never dawned on me to take a picture. -

Re: Barrington Hall
Sun, May 3, 2009 - 2:50 PMwow, that was very different from what i learned when i was living there 86-89
i thought it was built by the millitary for housing from the big earthquake.
i remember crawling under the building to see the huge timbers it was built from and
seeing most of them charred from fire before they were salvaged to make the building.
you can get under there from the boiler room... thanks for the link!

Re: Barrington Hall
Fri, August 14, 2009 - 11:46 AMHey y'all. Leo Sullivan here.
How interesting to find a little cul of interest in Barrington Hall :-)
But Barrington Hall [ or 'BA' is USCA's short-form I use] lives on in the 21st century in many ways.
There's some short films: 'The Murals of Barrington Hall' comes up on youTube with every google search for BA.
There's been several attempts at pages and boards to attempt to collect something from it all.
The latest of these being Joel Rane's California Wiki at www.californiawiki.org -
which is trying to better Wikipedia's fake 'verifiability' with a perhaps more honest first-person authority, using participants' consensus and personal accounts - ie., creating a living history.
Cal's Bancroft Library also holds a a BA Repository of artifacts- a place for all sorts of papers, pictures, artwork and ephemera which can be viewed by appointment- or you could also make donations to it, at your own leisure.
And since I was BA house photographer for a long term, I like to think that my large collection of BA photos will also turn up one day... Perhaps they'll re-surface at the Ashby Flea Market, when the Berkeley Buddhist Temple's property agent [my landlord] tires of their scanty shock value . . .
But in 2009 by far the most BA action is on fBook.
Hundreds of us use fB to keep in a semblance of human touch- and we haven't even tried any outreach.
Join Facebook's "Ex-Barringtonians" to visit the Dantean realm and see what pictures we got.
This fBook group also just had a 25th reunion at the old Hall August '09, which crew ca. 200 over 2 days.
Yes :-) I wish I had stronger recollection of all the people I met at BA, but., well I had to let a lot of things go ;-\
Let me just say Hello to James Dash -and anyone who I din't catch on my 1st pass thru Berkeley Kids Tribe.
